16 April, 2006
After the excitment of Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies was over, the real treat for motor sport fans in Roma over Easter was the Easter Drags at Ironbark Raceway. Roma's popular Easter in the Country Festival once again included Ironbark's biggest meeting of the year.
The Easter Drags attracted 80 competitors and 1750 spectators. Unfortunately the Harley Davidson riders had a big meeting in Sydney and the Junior Dragsters had a major points meeting at another track, which reduced the competitor numbers by about a third. They should all be back for the 2007 Easter meeting.
The Longest Distance award went to Tom Parry from Bundaberg. Tom also won the Modified bracket with a 6.43 on a 6.40 dial in. In the final, he defeated Mark Lewis who recorded a 6.34 on a 6.30 dial in.
Winners and runners up received trophies and cash prizes up to $125. The 2006 Easter in the Country meeting was sponsored by the Club Hotel, Taylors Spare Parts, Pumps 'n' Solar, D & R Motorcycles, Betta Electrical, Kimlin's Camping World, Giants Liquor, Repco Auto, Reliance Petroleum, Xtreme Force and South State Fuels (Ampol).
The Kimlin's Camping World award for a 0.400 perfect light was once again unclaimed. It was standing at $500 for 2006 and will now jackpot to $600 when competitors return for the 2007 Easter in the Country meeting.
