Ironbark's Easter In The Country meeting celebrating 20 years proved to one for the record books in so many ways. Record entries and also record crowds flocking to the track, especially on Saturday, has left many long time members in awe. With the inaugural burnout competition kicking off on Friday with two rounds and wrapping up on Saturday with a third round and the Finals completing the event in the evening. Competition was fierce with quite a few cars unable to finish but the rest battled on with four cars making it through for a closely contested final. Saturday saw the drag racing fire up at 3pm with a round of test and tune giving visitors a feel for the track followed by the first round of qualifying. It really was a drag car lovers dream with so many immaculately presented cars on display, which is such a credit to the owners and shows their immense love for the sport. Sunday was a particularly a big day with two more rounds of qualifying followed by three rounds of racing and then the finals. Entries in the Fast Street and Street classes dominated but the crowd was particularly entertained by the shear horsepower of the cars in the Blown Outlaw class. Matty Loy from Junga Bunga Racing from Warwick driving his immaculate Holden LX Torana was the star of the event taking out the Blown Outlaw Class and the fastest pass for the weekend. Claiming the Bob Godfrey Memorial Trophy for Fastest Sedan and Fastest Pass for the weekend. An ET of 5.35 and a speed of 131.52mph. Congratulations Matty.

President Dennis Hurle thanked the contestants for their dedication in making event the success it was and also all the volunteers for their tireless efforts leading up too and during the weekend, events like these wouldn't happen with out their dedication and commitment. Congratulations to all those involved.

In the burnout final, Matt and Tim Follington, Heath Waugh and Todd Hinds would battle it out for honors. A tough contest with only a couple of points between them would see Todd Hinds in the little green Toyota Corolla get the flag.

The Bikes final saw Ethan Wright and Michael Anderson on the start line, but Ethan Wright proved to be too good.

In the Young Guns class the Ferguson and the Childs siblings battled it out all weekend but Ashleigh and Brodie Ferguson would see their way into the final. Older sister Ashleigh proved to be too good for younger brother Brodie taking the win.

In the 4x4 class old rivalries would come to the fore with Darcy Proud and Luke Paynter on the start line. In his trusty Colorado Darcy Proud got the job done.

In Street Class we saw a battle between the youngster and the veteran with Ashleigh Ferguson stepping out of her Junior Dragster and into the Street class, up against long time club member Ray Pascoe in his Courier ute. It would prove to be her second win of the evening with Ashleigh taking the flag.

Fast Street Class had over fifty entries and was always going to a hard slog but it would see Jim Kahler in his Zephyr from Black snake racing and Dalby racer in his immaculate SLR 5000 Torana Craig White on the start line. Jim Kahler would prevail but with a pass of 100.65 mph

In the Quick Eliminators class Josh Mohr and Damian Hannigan were lucky enough to reach the finals. Josh would be hard to beat as he had been making consistent passes of 117mph all weekend. As in Dial in racing nothing is guaranteed and this was the case with Damian claiming the win with a 108.29mph pass.

In the blown Outlaw class, probably the one we were all waiting for and it was Matty Loy from Junga Bunga Racing and Greg Trapnell from Trapnell Racing finding themselves on the start line. Two beautiful cars but there could only be one winner and it would be Matty in his wonderful LX Torana that would claim victory with a 119.96mph pass.

There was also a Gassers display put on by Peter Wilson and Mark Dyer. An Austin A30 and a little Morris. Not the most mot stable of cars but looked to have way to much horse power but they made their way down the track with pretty quick times.
