Dragaroma drag meeting.
A resounding success for South West Drag Racing Association with the Dragaroma event taking place over the last weekend. There were good nominations in most classes with Street, Bikes and Fast Street making up the bulk of nominations. Competitors travelled considerable distances to help make the successful event.
President Dennis Hurle would like to acknowledge all those who helped in anyway to make the event a success especially the wonderful sponsors, the hard working volunteers, spectators and Racers
Highlight of the day most likely would have been Peter Wilson's pass in Gav Williamson's C10 with a speed of 129 mph recorded at the finish line. Russell Grulke probably didn't have the finish he hoped for but I guess that's racing. Another standout for the weekend was Bill Martland in his VR Commodore competing in the fast street class who won every race in qualifying with consistent 106 mph passes but struggled a little to win in the Elimination rounds. Young Guns were also wonderful with five cars competing and the kids had a ball.
Best Reaction Time went to James Schofield with a time of 0.00196.
Only one competitor in the Junior Bikes saw James Schofield competing and guaranteed a win in the final.
In the Bikes class locals Troy Barbour and Steve Dillon found themselves in the final. Troy Barbour proved to be too good taking the honors after Steve broke out.
In the Young Guns, Neelah Paul and Maxx Rowlings would face off. Neelah had a redlight and a breakout in previous races but only managed runner up with Maxx getting the win.
In the Street Class it was an all women affair with Killaney Back and Caitlin Williamson on the start line. Finally Caitlin managed a win in her trusty Nissan Patrol.
In the Fast Steet class Lana Rice in her yellow LH Torana proved too good for Mick Tattam taking the win with a 93.20mph pass.
In the Quick ET class David Gall in "MIghty Mouse", a 700 Toyota with a 327ci, battled it out with Rob Price in his LX Torana. Rob won the day with a 113.78mph pass.
In the Blown Outlaws class Peter Wilson had to settle for a bye run as Russell Grulke couldn't continue and Peter ran through at 118.96 mph.
